1. Factors to consider before moving abroad.

A big decision! We've all seen pictures of countries worldwide displayed at their glorious best. However, your decision to move overseas based on Google images is like seeing a stunning profile on Tinder and proposing with the first message.

Some questions to consider:

  • What is the major reason you want to migrate?
  • Are you okay with starting a new social network? Different cultures can take years to adjust to. Will you be comfortable with that?
  • The move may affect your ability to find employment. What is the job market situation relative to your skills?
  • Will you have to learn a new language? This can make it difficult to be accepted. (Though, of course, everyone smiles in the same language 😉 )
  • Have you factored in the cost of moving and setting up?
  • Have you checked visa requirements and eligibility to work there?
  • Have you visited the country? Should you plan a vacation there first?

Research commissioned by AXA — Global Healthcare found that 232 million people had left their home countries to live elsewhere and that 67% felt positive about the experience.

3. Top 10 happiest countries

Finland has been voted the happiest country in the World for the fifth year running. The Nordic countries — Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway — appear to be one of the happiest regions of the World.

1. Norway!

The United Nations named Norway the best country in which to live. Norwegians live to be around eighty-two years old, thanks to their impressive healthcare system; residents receive professional help and annual checkups from doctors through a healthcare system funded by the government.

  • 2. Ireland / Switzerland (tie)

Ireland is a beautiful country with a lot to offer. It's home to endless beauty and wildlife, a dynamic cultural and music scene, great people, nightlife, and jobs industry. With one of the lowest corporate tax rates in the World, Dublin is an "attractive" location for top businesses to set up, including Google, PayPal, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Microsoft all have offices there. Of course, a pint of Guinness! This alone is reason alone to live in Ireland! 😊

Switzerland is an excellent example of how taking care of the citizens can result in a flourishing society. The health of the Swiss population is impressive! The average Swiss person lives to around 83 years.

  • 4. Iceland / Hong Kong, China (SAR)(tie)

Iceland has one of the lowest crime rates in the World. It's a country that takes care of its people, and with access to healthcare, high-quality education, a stable government, and jobs, there's no reason for violence.

Hong Kong is one of the most international cities in Asia. It has a high quality of life, low taxes, and an income tax of only 17%, making it attractive for businesses. Many believe Hong Kong is the perfect blend of East and West cultures.

  • 6. Germany

Germany offers employment, salaries, leisure time, low crime rates, a clean environment, good public transport, and cultural attractions. Decisive factors for relocation.

  • 7. Sweden

Sweden has one of the best social welfare systems in the World. The country's health care system is well-developed and predominantly accessible, meaning Swedish citizens can easily access various medical services. It also offers free education at top universities.

  • 8. Australia/Netherlands (tie)

The United Nations praised Australia for its emphasis on education and the importance of attending school. Australia's education sector accounts for more than five percent of the country's GDP. The country excels with its quality of life, including the weather, quality food, an emphasis on work-life balance, higher wages, and more public holidays.

The Netherlands has a high standard of living, with a well-maintained infrastructure, very little corruption, a low crime level, a healthy biking culture, a healthy work-life balance, and pretty reliable systems across the board.

  • 10. Denmark

Many factors contribute to Denmark's high standard of living and exceptionally family-friendly atmosphere. These include a sense of safety, care for human rights, concern for the environment, gender equality, and a well-developed public education system.
